Premium Guard Phase 2

It will likely be in name (brand) only. The FRAM name, contrary to opinions here, is extremely valuable and well-known.

News from Greenville OH is that they have moved equipment from that plant and taken it to the IL plant. Who knows which equipment it is though.
All this speculation, so I will speculate too. If PGI has done their own thing since the start of their company, making filters their way, with excellent results. Why would they let a bankrupt company and intellectual property change how they do things now? They wouldn't. They didn't get to make all these good decisions just to bankrupt their own company with inferior designs.

I'm going to bet the equipment can be used to make their filters, their way. If you noticed they didn't take everything, they pick and chose what they bought to re-use.

If this is in reference to equipment moved out of the Greenville plant, it's not really speculation:

Greenville City Council President Doug Schmidt, a former FRAM employee, told city council some of the equipment at the Greenville plant is being moved to Albion, Ill.
No one outside of PGI really knows what equipment they did remove. Could be box-folding-filter-inserting machinery or pallet shrink-wrappers. I presume the filter body stamping equipment could transfer and they simply swap out the Fram dies with PGI dies. Now, that's all speculation, of course ! 🤣

For sure we are all speculating - but lets not forget that PGI has never made filters before. They outsource it to companies like Vafi. This is why there are other brands like Pentius and Warren that look the same.

They could re-tool the equipment possibly. But thats more money and more time and expertise they don't inherently have, although it can easily be outsourced.

Also all the OEM / Brand label would likely have more interest in continuing to buy the same thing, assuming they haven't already moved on.

For these reasons I would guess there not going to be making the traditional PGI filters everyone wants here anytime soon. Long term who knows. It might be a merger like we saw with Champ / Fram - a bit from here and a bit from there.

We will need to wait and see. There was technically nothing wrong with Fram or Champ filters - it was simply that First Brands QC took a dump.

They will have to cheapen stuff up to make their money back...
First Brands already did "cheapen stuff up" and almost no one here would run those crap filters. Who know what they will do?? I put in a vote for a full synthetic media with a backer screen and HOLES in the main tube (not louvers) and a 99% at 20um. That's my vote.
