2005 Dodge grand caravan. Ebrake cable broke, replaced it, and the ebrake has never worked the same since. This has been a thing for like a year and never cared enough to fix it. Was snooping around the internet and ChryslerMinivan.net mentioned something about preloading the auto adjuster spring on the foot lever so it will function correctly. Is there anything else about this than just a mention of it on a 10 year old forum post? I’d like my ebrake to work again if possible

Drum or disc or top hat rear brake setup?

I'd look for issues in the rear brakes, these are often out of whack as time goes on. Even normal looking brake linings, if ten plus years old, can be "glazed" or otherwise ineffective.

If there's a central brake cable you can see hanging below the floorboards, if it's relatively tight with the pedal off I'd say it's adjusted well enough.

Drum in hat. All cables are attached and there’s new shoes and hardware
