PP!!! Better wear numbers overall, most say its a quiet running oil, and the packaging looks cooler =)

Depends; I had better wear numbers for M1 than I did for PU and M1 was quieter than PU. It all depends on the engine/application. Packaging? Grey vs. Grey...

OP - either oil is good; just depends on what you like/see value in/have good results with

Both great, I have no top preference.
I have M1 in my car right now, I have used M1 and PP in the past, have never had complaints about either one.

This is the right answer. However I've seen some used oil analysis where wear was higher with one more than the other. Depends on the engine.
The jeep 4.0 doesn't like M1 products whatsoever yet pennzoil products do fine in them but then I've seen the opposite posted here in someone's Santa Fe.
Honestly. If I lived in the states I'd buy nothing but jugs of M1 0w-40 and if I needed a bit thinner then do a Caterham mix.
The Mobil jugs at Walmart are almost a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. I'm no fan of Mobil however at those prices I'd just peel the labels off so I don't get reminded.

The op was comparing pp not ultra. I agree wholeheartedly that ultra is a superior product though.

I picked up a 5 qt. jug of Pennzoil Ultra yesterday for $16 at WM...$21 - $5 coupon...the only problem is that it's 10w30 which was all they had left.
I may run it in my Cruze 1.4T after the warranty expires.
I figure it's got to be better than some of the dexos1 semi-syns.....

PS: I think PP and M1 are both great oils and I would choose based on the application....

i know this..

But spend an extra dollar or 2 to get a superior product

But, not everyone can get PU readily or at a sensible price. Also, if I had a dexos1 application, PP and M1 would be among the most sensible choices, along with QSUD.
