I am always disappointed when I go to the Walmarts near me because they are always sold out of the 5W30 PP and I have to shell out for the Edge.
A few days ago,I found PP on the Walmart website and it was available for online ordering and free in store pickup. Now I go to the website and it is not there anymore

:-( since we were planning to go to walmart tomorrow evening. Anybody know the story behind this?

That would really be upsetting, it must be a glitch, I can't see how they could give anymore space to Castrol. I am really disappointed in the expensive Edge/FST. It is the biggest rip-off going. The oil got worse and more expensive! I just got it to get a free football and a K&N oil filter and I still regret it. Anyway hope you can find the PP.

I would be ecstatic if the WMs around here had the Ultra. They have neither PP or PU is the problem

This is why Wal Mart is having problems. I can no longer find Mobil 1 EP at any of the local WalMarts stores unless I pay almost $8 for a quart. More and more Castrol as Chubbs 1 has noted. They seem to be more interested in deals cut with suppliers than in servicing customer's needs.

I am in redmond wa.

There really is no need for Platinum anymore, Pennzoil should just dump it and stick to Ultra. When Ultra used to be sold up here in Walmart, they actually had PP priced higher than PU! Talk about confusing the customers as to which was their better oil!

So by eliminating PP, they eliminate the confusion, and can concentrate on actually marketing Ultra (and bring it back to Canada in Walmart, sheesh!!)

Wal-Mart has never really been a warm, personal experience. They are a chain and serve one purpose - to monopolize and grow. So that means yes, they will cut deals with suppliers and choose to sell more shelf space and end caps to them, because it is about marketing. I worked for Wal-Mart for 5+ years and saw first hand behind the department managers what flexed in and what flexed out.

I hardly ever buy my oil from WM anyways, I usually try to spot the deals at AAP or O'Reillys. :-)

Zerosoma, thanks for the comment. Over the past five years, I have purchased less and less at Walmart as the prices increased and selections decreased. About all I buy now is Mobil 1 oil in 5 qt jugs. More and more of my purchases are made at smaller stores and I find to my surprise that many have lower prices than WalMart. I actually saw on my way out of the local WalMart a store brand of crackers at a HIGHER price than the brand name next to them. What type of genius does that?
