Powerservice Silver

I purhcased a bottle of powerservice silver diesel additive for my TDI. Poured 1/3 of the bottle in my tank at fill up. Per the instructions this should raise the cetane 7-8 points. My first impression is wow! The car really seems to have a lot more giddy up and it seems to idle/run quieter too. Is there any downside to using things like this?

There is really no downside to using the Powerservice except the smell. For the extra money you may spend it offers so many benefits.

Better lubrication of the injection pump and injectors, cleans injection pump and injectors, lower emissions, better fuel economy, better power in your case, smoother running, etc.

I have been using the same dosage as you on my '03 TDI since brand new. There have been maybe 3-4 tanks over 25k miles where I forgot to bring it with me. The only thing I really notice when using it is lower engine noise and smoother running. I still have the peace of mind knowing it is keeping the injection pump, injectors and cylinders clean and well lubricated.

Good to hear. I'll keep running it then. Would it be worthwhile to run this with biodiesel? I know it has good cleaning and lubricating abilities itself. I suppose it couldn't hurt?

What year is your TDI? The only problem running biodiesel in that car would be if your ran close to 100% in a fuel system that had deposits from years of running regular fuel. The biodiesel could break those deposts off in large chunks. Other than that, and if you live in a warmer climate go with as much biodiesel as you want. Biodiesel alone has much greatly lubricity.
