This filter has been sitting around forever. I have had it so long, I'm not sure what I bought it for, but probably for my old '90 Ford Festiva L-Plus. That was a fun lil' Go-Kart

April 29, 2012 and line "B" 2nd shift. Could have been ok to use but old as it is I would NOT have used it. Thank you for C&P sir

Am I the only one that wants to know what's up with that string tied around the media?

Most of your older Purolators had a "hernia truss" knotted string around the media. I guess it helped keep everything together during manufacturing.

Unfortunately, even the newer Purolators still use the string - here on a Motorcraft FL-2051s that was on my Powerstroke. I stopped using them.

Could be to keep everything together during use. Not sure I have seen a stringed Puro with a torn pleat.

That's because when they used the string, that was way back when Purolator filters were built with better media and pleat spacing and didn't have a tearing problem. The stopped using the string a long time ago, and there weren't any issues with tearing. It seems that after Mann+Hummel took ownership, something changed in materials and/or manufacturing that caused issues.

..???? So

I think dishdude just making the point that the LEE application is an oldie goldie/but goody as they are no longer made. Popular back in the day though.

FYI, 2808 application number still used by Champ made filters for this application though.
