Hi BITOGERs,

Like many of you, I have a significant investment in tools.

This video really opened my eyes as to all the consolidation that has seemingly happened in the power tool industry. I know that industry consolidation is a fact of life these days, but until I watched this video, I had no idea how many brands are owned by the same company.

Please reply and provide feedback on which brands of power tools you have the most of.

Thanks

Did not know Makita and Hilti stood on their own, those are very strong brands. Thanks for sharing.

in the end ALMOST everything is made overseas aka CHINA!! + prolly owned by very wealthy legal CROOKS!!!

I own three DeWalt tools. The oldest impact driver (DCF885) was made in USA. My 20V drill motor (DCD794) came from Mexico, and my high torque impact wrench (DCF900) was made in China. I don't know if the country of origin was dictated by the age of the tools but it looks like DeWalt has spread their factories around the globe.

I like my battery powered tools. In general the technology with them has gotten pretty darn good the last 10 years from my experience. They sure make life much easier. Mine are a mix of Makita, Dewalt, and Kobalt.

When the Dewalt name came back in the 90s everything was made in China. I don't know if the previous identical Black and Decker tools were made in China. The US made stuff is relatively recent.

I have about two dozen Makita cordless tools. Some corded ones, too, like a compound miter saw and router. And a 45 year old drill. They’re excellent.

A couple of older Dewalt power tools (drill, planer and others). They’re excellent.

A couple newer Milwaukee 18v
Cordless. So far, so good.

Several Milwaukee 12v that lead a hard life. Excellent.

A couple Bosch 12v tools. Also, excellent.

Some older, in some cases, much older, Porter Cable corded power tools. Still running perfectly after many decades. Old made in the USA stuff like belt sander and circular saw.

No clinkers or junk in the lot.

But if I had to pick a brand for a new tool, right now?

Hard to go wrong with Makita.

I have 6 Makita 18v and 2 Bosch 12v cordless power tools.

The Bosch tools are really old. Purchased from a woman who lost her husband and was selling his tools. They are compact and super useful for lighter work, like removing splash pans.

The Makita tools work perfectly. At the rate I use them they will be around far into my next life.

Yup that’s why I don’t waste money on the name brand stuff. It’s all the same under stickers and plastic

I have a mix of Makita and Milwaukee, with a little bit of Bosch.

Makita IMO opinion, makes the more high quality tool. Their batteries last forever under hard use, and their battery tech has not changed in nearly 20 years now. No professional grade maker can say that.

Milwaukee has the best selection of specialty tools, and are great supply chain. They are available everywhere. Very smart marketing

Bosch concrete tools are the best.

If I had tro have one brand, it would be Makita

Master force power tools are made/manufactured by Chervon, a large established company in China, they also produce other brands as well, I have found Master force to be a good tool and has a solid warranty's on them, all for decent pricing. they have been my favorite tool brand lately,,,good stuff.
