anyone make the switch over to full synthetic for their power steering ? If so , any improvements or downfalls ? Last , what brand did you use ? THANKS

I've used Mobil 1 ATF in cars that call for Dexron III or Mercon. Works fine. Goes much longer before discoloring and needing to be changed again. I don't live in a cold climate but I understand that the steering doesn't get as stiff in very cold weather.

could the VALVOLINE MERCON V synthetic A.T.F. be used in place of the DEXRON III in the Chevy PRIZM , seems like it can at the VALVOLINE website www.valvoline.com/products/MERCON%20V.pdf , it's on sale at A.A.P. for $2.95 a qt. , compared to VALVOLINE DEXRON VI at $5.99 a quart .

PRIZM same as COROLLA , power steering fluid cap has writing in JAPANESE on it as well as ENGLISH .

Same here i generally do mine every other year. What every Amsoil Universal ATF i dont use i change out my ps fluid with it.

I have swapped out the factory fill to Castrol Transmax Z synthetic atf on the p/s of my Toyotas Kluger/Highlander and Corolla. Too early to notice any difference. Possibly will never notice a difference, but it pleases me to use synthetic.

Did an Auto-RX treatment and then flushed with Amsoil Super Shift (mine requiers Type F transmission fluid). Steering is easier to turn, and the hissing sound is very quiet compared to before.

Just changing the fluid is probably more love than 99% of the cars on the road get. I have Mobil 1 ATF in my Fords. Didn't notice much difference. Maybe a little smoother when below 20F.

I would try to stick with the spec. fluid or equivalent/better. Although, I'm not sure what difference it would make. No clutches and I don't think there would be any seal compatibility issues.
