Power Steering Flush

What is the easiest way to find out what the return line on a power steering pump is other than disconnecting the hoses. My reservoir sits on top of the pump, so is it safe to assume that the hose that connects to the side of the bottle would be the return line. I have a separate reservoir on my Pathfinder it has one hose connector at the very bottom of the bottle and one about an inch from the bottom. In this case would it make sense that the feed line is at the very bottom, and the return line sits just an inch or so above the bottom of the bottle?

the return is generally the line with a regular hose clamp on it instead of being a crimped assembly.

Ther return line is usually bigger too.
