Replacing the OE tie rod ends, and when I removed the dust boot on the passenger side it peed out 2-3oz of psf, with the driver side giving me maybe a few drops. Any idea if switching the ATF+4 with a HM 0W20 to try to swell the 20 year old seals up? Some other guy on here said replacing his psf with 0w20 seemed to quiet his pump down (another issue I have)

I would think in a cold climate 0W20 motor oil would give stiff steering compared to ATF.Also totally different chemistry ATF to motor oil! When I had a steering rack leak 1 teaspoon of oil in boot, 2 different mechanics said that was considered pretty bad.

I doubt much will help but I see no reason a rack needs the add pack of +4. It was just spec'd because it was "their" fluid.

Try a vacuum bleed for the noisy pump. You've got nothing to lose and you might be surprised
