Power Steering Fluid flush - should I use AutoRX beforehand?

I'm planning to flush my PSF with Mobil 1 ATF and also will be installing a Magnefine filter (if space permits). Back in December I did 3 pints worth of siphon & fill using Genuine Nissan PSF, and around 90,000 miles the PSF was flushed by Nissan (currently have 122k). There are currently no issues with the power steering system and the fluid is still fresh. Should I use AutoRX for 1,000 miles before flushing? Also, once I flush it and get the new fluid in, should I do one siphon & fill at some interval (i.e. every third oil change), or will the synthetic fluid + filter essentially be maintenance-free for some time?

No need to run AutoRX, in my opinion.

Synthetic ATF and Magnefine will make it maintenance free for a long time. No need for any additives.

I used A-RX in my GM and it stopped the moaning. I had neglected to change the FF PSF for nearly 80K. If you have done PM before and it's working fine I wouldn't use it.

I used some Auto Rx on one of my cars with a cold morning issue with a follow up flush with Redline PSF. It worked great. I don't know if it was the Auto Rx or the Redline or both that fixed the problem but it has been a few years now with no more issues. I already had some Auto Rx left over so it was a no brainer for me but I probably wouldn't buy some just for the power steering if you're not having any issues.

I do have an unopened bottle of Auto-RX sitting around, but I'll forgo using it in my PS system since it's free of issues currently.

Now I just need to figure out where to mount the filter and what size return hose I've got. Anybody happen to know what it'd be? My vehicle is listed in my signature.

I called our board sponsoring Magnefine dealer and he was able to give me the right size for my application.

I emailed Vandal Alert instead, they said it's 3/8" for both the PS and transmission return lines. I'm pleased by their quick reply, even this late (sent them an email at 12:30 AM).

I'd clean the system with the Auto-Rx. With that many years and hours of service, there might be some varnish that can be removed and seals that can be reconditioned. I did the same thing with my high mileage Volvo, and the steering has remained good for 15 years and 190,000 miles.

Well, I have no leaks, so what's the point of reconditioning the seals?

Perhaps I'll wait for the bottle of AutoRX I put in my engine to finish its run, and if I don't see desired results then I'll not use the second bottle in my engine and instead use it in PS/trans/diff, I've read it works well there, while results with engines is quite varied.

Does it matter what kind of extra hose I use to connect the filter to the return line, or will any type hose work fine?
