I was just on Mobil`s website looking at the material data sheets for their oils. The flash points of both their High Mileage oils are higher than that of the silver cap 15W50 and of course the pour points are way lower. I definitely understand the pour points, but what exactly does flash point have on an oil`s performance?
My Z`s engine is still super tight (car has only 59k miles) and I`m living very close to my job now. Car doesn`t even get completely warmed up when I reach my job`s parking lot (my engine has always run super cool anyway). So I`m thinking of dropping back down to a thinner oil. The M1`s HM 10W30 and 10W40 are what I`m considering. I keep hearing that they`re superior to the regular M1 formulations.
What do the oil experts here say?
