Mann W917 filter - Made in Germany. In service on a 1989 Volvo 740 turbo with 298,000KM. Filter on vehicle ~18 months and 19,531KM. These filters are very well built, and in my opinion easily able to handle this duration. It showed no signs of delamination from paper media to end cap.

Oil was changed twice in this time. Rough totals:

8L 0W30 Esso XD-3
4L 10W30 Shell

Materials engineers at Mann know what to use for ADBV - 110% supple.

Clean side (filter output):

Dirty side:

This looks worse than it actually was. But lots of hardened carbon particles ... I guess not overly unusual for turbocharged applications.

And here's the last 20K KM Mann W917 postmortem:

Wow very well built filter. They are using some kind of yellow colored silicone I take it.

As always, thanks for cutting and posting! Greatly appreciated.

19K KM's was enough for my comfort level. A visual inspection is not enough to determine if it could have survived a longer duration. But I am disturbed at the chunks of hardened material in the filter media. Not disturbed enough to do something though.

I guess more curious.
