Thanks! I hope your 2012 serves you well. You can learn a lot about it---and its potential trouble spots to watch out for---on Priuschat.com.Just bought a 2012 Prius and haven't driven it enough to know the fuel economy yet. From what you have posted it appears you are getting better than most. Do you have any thoughts why you get better fuel economy. City or highway driving? Tires? Oil? Thanks
I keep the physics of energy conservation in mind more consistently that most drivers do.
My travel mileage is roughly half long-distance trips and half local suburban and rural trips of typically 14 to 20 miles one way. I try to avoid very short trips.
Normal OE-size 15" tires, inflated a little above Toyota's suggested pressures. Oil used in the ~114k miles since I bought it has been 3 oil changes (by dealer) of Toyota 0W-20, one change of Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20, two changes of Quaker State 5W-20 synthetic, and all others Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20. It doesn't consume much oil---although many Prii do, by the time they reach this mileage.
