The "whole kits" are nice and collectible...these are all preban rifles from the '80s.

There really is a big difference in quality between the factory built pre-ban AKs and AKMs compared to the kit built guns and the Romanian WASRs that are imported today. It's too bad there aren't any high quality AKs being imported anymore...

Yes, I always forget about the Saiga rifles because I despise the "sporting" configuration. I once shot a Saiga in 7.62x39 and they are very nice shooters and have a fairly high quality fit and finish. Certainly a very good factory built Kalashnikov option if you aren't set on the miltary configuration.

Very easy to convert to "military configuration". New trigger group, move the trigger (most of them already have holes on the receiver in the right place), new furniture. What else?
As far as fit and finish.. They are made at the same factory as the Russian army AKs, so can not get much better.

Veprs were better (thicker receivers, barrels), but thanks to Izhevsk, Vyatskiy Polyany is no longer in AK business.

That just leaves the gas block with the bayonet lug which requires you to remove the front site.

Every proper Russian miltary rifle must have a bayonet.

They even put them on the SVD! lol.

Finally took some pics of my stuff...

Ruger P89 has been returned to the stock barrel. The slide didn't move quite right with the longer ported Laser Aim barrel:

Plenty of reason for that:
Quote:
Does your Internet service provider keep track of where you've been online and how long you spent there? They might. Or they might not. There are no laws requiring ISPs to keep records of their customers. The Department of Justice says there should be. This week they called for ISPs to keep records for an as yet unspecified amount of time.

The last I heard it was 3 years for everything. Phone calls, internet searches, e-mails, everything. I believe we have the Patriot Act to thank for much of it. Google, Yahoo any of the big ones collect data and keep it for, I think, three years. All searches are tracked and they know how long you were on any given website. You can erase your computer and wipe the drive but they still have everything. Using a search engine such as "Start Page" helps because they don't store or track your IP address although the website probably does.

I got the 17L as a project to do mods on.

The stock trigger is horrible - but I find all stock Glock triggers to be unacceptable to me. I have a G34 that I bought used that came with a Sotelo trigger kit. I swapped my Sotelo trigger kit to the 17L and it's a lot nicer. I went to the range yesterday and had some fun, I created a shot group at 25' that I was happy with. Firing standing, two handed slow fire I made 1.125" shot group with 5 rounds.

It points naturally for me, has hardly any felt recoil. It's very easy to bring back on target and I was surprised at how accurately I can fire it rapid fire. I did some one handed rapid fire work with it at 10' and putt all the rounds in a 2" circle.

I've never had any problem with this pistol so far - no feeding or FTEs.

It is a lot easier to cycle the slide than my HK P7M8, but like I said, I've never had a failure to feed. I've also taken it to the range totally gooped up with grease - way way over lubricated, to the point where on the first shot, greas splattered on my shooting hand, but I've never had the slide fail to cycle.

I can't figure out how to post pics on this forum or I'd show you how much grease I had on it...
