Different sugar is the rumor but I think that is is the nasty Tijuana water that skews the taste. The big bottles sold as singles in grocery stores around here come from Mexico. The smaller bottles that are found in 6-packs are locally produced, I believe. The main difference is the Mexican Coke is made with cane sugar and the locally produced Coke uses HFCS.
Any Coke made anywhere is made with highly filtered water. Fountain Coke taste great as every outlet must use filtered water. McDonalds actually tastes best because they put a little extra syrup in the mix, (there's a YouTube Vid) cancels the ice dilution somewhat.Different sugar is the rumor but I think that is is the nasty Tijuana water that skews the taste.
