Heater care plugged, compressor or clutch out so no ac, power locks stick, door seals leak some, shocks sag, tachometer sticks a little, exhaust leaks somewhere under there, possible oil seep somewhere (consumption 1qt/1k ish) couple of small pending emissions codes, body damage from vandalism and some Honda rot on one rear well, someone smacked my drivers side mirror barely hanging on....
But it runs and shifts smooth!
Radio, Windows, rear defroster, all lights, brakes work great too.
something to watch out for with that era taurus..
Buddy had a 96(bought w/ 120k mi in 2006-7) over all similar to what you describe. he replaced it with the vibe in my sig, summer 2010, gave the taurus to a freind of his w/o wheels.
week later, (while delivering pizzas with it) the previously just sagging rear suspension fully collapsed on him. had to drive it home w/ the tail end dragging like a dog w/ worms.
Yeah its all original in the rear suspension I don't want to put that much money in a beater that only drives a few miles to work occasionally. Not that I could afford to anyways. I've heard before it's very common for the rear suspension to wear abnormally fast.
Do you know what part failed on his Taurus? I've also heard stories of rust eating pieces.
didn't see the carcass myself, but it was my understanding that the shock towers rusted out, and he hit that 1 bump in the road too many.
not a part per say, but the bodywork that the suspension attached to disintegrated.
