Portable Steamer for Salt Stained Carpet

The salt stains on my Corolla carpet are very tough to remove. I've tried some of the automotive dept. carpet cleaners designed to 'loosen' salt stains. Not very effective.
I'm thinking of ordering a portable steamer to soften salt the stain/crust so I can wet vac it up.
The thing looks like a tea pot with a steam hose on the spout.
What do you guys think?

use TSP in a carpet cleaner with an upholstery connection, 1/4 gallon

50% distilled white vinegar and 50% distilled water in a spray bottle is all you need to melt the salt crystals.
