popualr brand synthetics...which one?!?

Here are the "popular" brand synthetics that I can get by simply stopping off and buying on a whim...

Mobil 1 (standard and entended performance)
Pennzoil Platinum
Quaker State Q
Castrol Syntec

which one of the above listed seems to offer the most in the 5w30 and 10w30 weights for a gasoline passenger engine, in this case a 1999 Subaru Forester with 2.5L boxer that has under 30,000 miles

What? No Valvoline synthetic in your area? Too bad. Their Maxlife Synthetic is very nice stuff. Synpower is very good too.

The SM regular Mobil 1 is 11 cSt at full temperature. It's a little thicker than the others.

Not sure if it was a typo or not but, that made me laugh. Subaru's seem to do well with any of the above. Base your choice on price at that point.

Which Syntec? If it's GC, that's the pick. Otherwise, among the others named, Mobil 1 5w30.

Either of the Mobil 1's. My 03 Forester with the same engine as yours is on its second 10,000 mi. run of Mobil 1 Extended Performance and has 42,000 mi. on it.
