Real men revel in rust.

There is a certain relief and/or contentment when one becomes wise and ceases not to put a vehicle up on a pedestal to the point that life revolves around a spotless/flawless shine.

Raising a family can cause you to become "wise" very quick.

Regarding "pop", the only pop I get when waxing the mini van usually comes from my lower back.

One of the reasons why I don't like the fact that my Corvette is black is that I find a solid color like this, with no metallic in it, just does not pop. My next Corvette will be a bright metallic color that pops, like this one below owned by a friend of mine:

I hate to disagree with you Pat, but there is nothing that looks as good as black in my opinion. Properly detailed Black looks like dark liqued metal or something.

My problem with black is that it just does not look like it's "glowing" in the bright sun like a bright metallic color does. You can't tell me that a black car stands out more than the Monterey red metallic car I posted above? When that picture was taken, there were about a couple of dozen real nice Porsches and Corvettes and some other exotics, in lots of different colors including black, but this car stood out above all of them. In fact there was a brand new black Lamborghini Gallardo there that day and he parked pretty close to that Monterey Red Corvette and as much as his car looked cool, the color of it did not draw as much attention as Monterey Red.

Metallic finishes just have more of a 3D look to them when the sun hits them. Even a perfectly detailed black doesn't do that.

Well, they do have Black metalic too. I guess what you are saying is you like the reflective look better than the deep wet look, and I am the opposite, I like the deep wet shimmering look. I used to hate red's, but lately they have been growing on me, but Plain Black is still my personal Fav. This is TH001's Zaino detail from Autopia. Products were ZPC Zaino's paint cleaner and Z2Pro/Z5Pro. This is a good example of what I said in the previous post, liqued metal look. I guess it's all a mater of opinion, and probably most people agree with you cause metallics are very popular.

The one problem I have with black metallics is that in the bright sun they look more like a faded black than a true black. So it just doesn't do it for me. Actually, the front end on my car is so full of tiny little fine stonechips that it almost looks like the nose of my black Corvette is metallic! LOL! I'm getting that fixed in the next couple of weeks though, a friend of mine says he can buff 90% it out with his Porter Cable. He just picked up a 2002 Camaro SS and he says his front end was almost as bad as mine and now his looks almost as good as new! The only marks he couldn't remove were the bigger deep ones. But all the tiny little fine "sandblasted looking" ones are gone. Even once my paint is near perfect, I still won't be satisfied though, I only chose black for this car because I was having trouble finding any other color up here. 90% of the Corvettes in the Auto Trader up here are black or silver. If you want one of the unique colors like I do, you end up waiting a very long time.

It's still a great car though, don't get me wrong, I'd just prefer a different color that jumps out at me. But at least it looks better than silver, I find silver Corvettes are boring. At least the black looks evil!

Here is a shot of it from a few months ago after I got all the swirls and fine scratches professionally buffed out:

That's my Dream car right there, straight black vette, sweet. Are you a member of the Corvette forum?

I agree with Shelby. A nicely cleaned black car just looks fierce. That Vette looks mean. I love the red Vette but there's something about a black car that just looks sleek.

Yep, I've been a member since 2001. There are a huge number of Corvette Forum members that live near me here in Toronto, we get together all the time for cruises and stuff. It's such a blast owning this car!

The only thing I don't like about the Vette forum is you cannot say if a product is bad no matter what, they only want positive experiences. It's cool because you don't have the arguments, but the body of knowledge suffers if your censored for telling the truth about a detailing product. Great information about Corvettes though.

I find all the brand fights annoying too and I'm a Zaino user.
However when people post how hard Zaino to use, that's annoying too.
Nothing is simpler to use than Zaino.
Especially the Zaino Clear Spray.
I've been on that forum since '99 and have seen the flavor of the month car wax come and go.
Always compared to Zaino and that product goes and Zaino is still there..
Now we have the Zaino and Rejex fights.

Rejex is a very good product, though.
I bought a bottle and use it on my windshield.
Not bad on paint but I prefer Zaino but definitely would be my next choice.
