Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a first year model?? Looks decent but I pass. Too many proven good vehicles on the road. You can get an Acura for that money.

$27K is absurd! The car is not worth that and if you hold out I am almost sure the market will show this and the price will drop. I think if you campare it to a $27K Camry or Maxima etc... you will see a huge difference. Are their any incentives on it to bring it down to a sane price?

I can't believe ABS is still optional on the G6. This is what, 2005, not 1990!

Still no standard built-in MP3-capable radio. Hard to believe, considering MP3 capability costs all of $10 to add to a modern CD deck and makes a great selling feature especially among the G6's target market.

No heated seats. 3500 engine -- hope they have all the leaks of the previous generations fixed!

The MPG isn't exactly impressive either -- GM was building similar sized cars over 15 years ago that burned the same amount of fuel. Surely 15 years of technological innovation should have reduced fuel consumption somehow??

My problem is the price!! There are too many cars in the $27K range that offer much better NVH standards and are much more refined! It does not offer any real utility either. I bought my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab SLT+ 4X4 4.7V8, wheel and tire package, towing package, heavy duty group etc... for $25K! I can not imagine paying that or more for a car that is basicly smoke and mirrors in terms of performance, features and power train. I think of it as a Grand AM with new sheet metal and a new name. Hec you can get a WRX,Magnum,Mustang,Camry,Maxima,Mazda 6 etc... for that all of them preety well equiped!

Most reviews that I have seen in the
auto Mags.say it's most hype and very little else.
Give it a lot of thought before you go with the General.Good Luck !

Exactly. IMO, the TSX looks better inside and out. Quality and reliability should be much better as well. TSX's engine doesn't have as much torque, but for a daily driver I think it should be plenty.

Yea, that's what my son drives. Pretty decent car really.

To Pontiacs credit, they didn't cover the sides of the G6 with Tupperware and give it a front end with the typical Pontiac Batmobile styling.

To bad it's not more of a car under the skin.

Anyone cruzing here have one? Interested to know your impressions? Power? Fuel econonmy? etc

Considering a 2005 GT for a daily driver. MSRP $27215 loaded with every option in stealth gray

No one owns one, just nay-sayers?

I will not buy any foriegn make car, so don't even bring that up.

MP3 is of no interest to me.

Just checked on insurance and its very reasonable.

The G6 is built in Lake Orion, Michigan. 1st year model or not makes no never mind to me. I had a 1st year 1999 GMC truck, no problem. First year Lumina, had no problems. I have owned many GM cars, always been good to me.

As for reviews etc. I find what they hate, I like and what they say is no good, always turns out very good for me, so I hold these reviews as not worth my time...

I am seriouly thinking of getting one.

It sounds like you have already made your mind up. Go buy the thing and enjoy it.

A lot of naysayers here mike, just ignore them. The G6 looks like it's going to be a good car. The platform has been around for a couple years now. I'm not thrilled about the 3.5, the new 3.9 looks better. I was really looking forward to the 3 valve 3.9, but it apears now this won't be coming anytime soon.

You have my sympathy

I am retired and need a car to get me around. A 4x4 truck as a daily driver is too costly at 15mpg. I test drove a G6 today and its OK.

Dealer is working on a dealer trade this PM, should know in a day.

I have the new vehicle printout;

MSRP: $27,840 (every avaialble option)
DIP: 25853.58
GMS: 24703.90*

*What I pay...

Like everything domestic these days, take that MSRP with a huge grain of salt.

They'll be throwing a few $thousand$ into the trunk via incentives before you know it.

At $22K, it may be a good deal for you.

I am a GM person.

I have 2 GM products, but couldn't imagine identifying myself with GM.

Mike if you have your heart set on GM take a look at the Lucrene,LaCross etc... They are better in almost every way over the G6 and you can get them for about the same money!!!!!

If you do not mind the dated design you should be able to get an Impalla for about $17,000-$20,000 GMS price with a buick 3.8!!!

THe G6 is primarly marketed to young women in semi-profesional fields!

My point about the price and utility is that you are getting ripped off!!! You are not getting your moneys worth! It would be like paying $3 for loaf of wounder bread when you can get organinc whole wheat for $2! The car is over priced and is going to deprciate faster then you can pay it off. You will be "upside down" by the time you want to trade it in or sell it!

They are useing penatration priceing to try to establish credability for the car!

Sure the car might be assembled at Lake Orion but were are most of the parts and sub assembly's comeing from? Do not kid yourself it is a globeal economy and GM has just as much forgin content as a forgin make!! GM has not created any jobs in Michigan for a long time!Their are plenty of ex-GM employees! Their are plenty of contract workers that are mis-treted! Their are plenty of new GM jobs in India and Canada!Their are plenty of skilled trade sitting in the Job Bank waiteing for work! Plenty of GM salried people getting early retirment as well!!

If you work for GM though or retired from them it only makes sense to buy from them and support yourself. If I actualy worked for GM as a GM employee I would buy what I made as well!! It only makes sense to support yourself.

When you ask for peoples opions you have to expect them to answere you as they see fit. You never specified that your mind was already made up or that you did not want to hear anything negative or that brands made in the USA by Americans with forign names were off limits!

JohnBrowning, good post.

Mike, you drove the car. If you like it, and if the price is OK for you, then I'd say go for it. Afterall, you'll be the one driving it, not anyone else on this board.

You wanted to hear what people's experiences were with this car, but apparently no one here owns one, so instead of providing our experiences, we shifted to talking about whether we'd buy one or not.

FYI to Al - the TSX is actually built in Japan. And maybe that's a good thing. The US-built Accord I once bought left a lot to be desired in the fit-and-finish department.

What I asked for was someone who owned one to comment but I have yet to get that. I know the vast majority on this board are anti-american cars, at least many come across like that. I am not, so I will never buy a foriegn make car, especially from Germany or Japan. My dad had to fight them in WWII and would turn over in his grave if I bought one.

I have no affilations with GM. I had to drive Fords and Dodge cars/trucks for 30+ yrs at work and just hate them. A relative can get the GMS pricing because they do business with GM.

My mind is not really made up on the G6 and made no committments. Its just of all the new cars out there, the G6 looks good to me. As for the Buicks, they are dated design like you say, I looked at nice Lacrosse but it looks about the same as my 1995 Park Ave did. I don't like the looks of the Impala or most all Chevys less a Corvette.

I have a 2002 Firebird that is being sold as we speak (hopefully)...
