I have been watching the discussion on Dexcool vs. others in the Pontiacs. I had a iffy lube overheat my Montana and blow the intake gasket. All was repired, but now (4 mo. later) My water pump seems to be leaking. I look at the part at Kragen, and it is the internal parts only, no housing. I'm old school, so has anyone done a waterpump replacement on this type of engine or pump. Last pump I did was on my '70 Chevelle.

Very easy job; everything is up top. Yes, you are replacing just the pump. It sits in the housing. I had a 1999 Montana with a 3.4L and I replaced the pump at 145K. Buy a new one not rebuilt. If I remember right, it took me about 45 min.

If this is one of the deals where the pulley bolts to the guts, the bolts come out way easier if the serp belt is still threaded.
