Here's a poll for you guys.

Lets say you have a mechanically sound car. Your send the car out with a trusted family member to a mechanic for the oil change due to whatever reason that you couldn't get to it.

When your family member comes back they tell you that your mechanic friend ran a bottle of something in the crankcase for "Additional cleaning benefits"

Here's the fun part. You get to choose what you would rather hear was run in the crank case.

IE: Seafoam, MMO, Amsoil Engine flush, Gunk Engine flush.

Basically if you could choose any off the shelf, easy to come by solvent flush what would make you feel...most at ease?

This did not happen to me, im just curious to see answers.

I think I would choose Amsoil Engine Flush personally.

What say you?

MMO. I've used it in the crankcase on 2 of my vehicles with no apparent damage.

I'd still go down to the mechanic and break a torque wrench off in his rear orifice for using something without permission.

Depends on which car they took. The one with the oil cooler leaves some oil in there still so I'd be worried any of them were still in the oil. I'd change it again to help flush out the flush. On the car with no cooler I wouldn't worry about any of them but I'd never use them intentionally. The Amsoil might make me feel the most at ease but I have nothing to base it on other than their products are generally pretty good.

I don’t understand your comment about “You get to choose what you would rather hear was run in the crank case.” For me, the issue would not be what I would rather hear, the issue would be exactly what this product was.

Pick up the phone, call the guy, and politely explain that you are the owner of the car and you don’t quite understand what your family member said about “additional cleaning benefits.” Politely ask the guy what product it was, if it requires another oil change soon to flush it out, etc. It you ask nicely, I don’t see any reason for him not to tell you what it was. If you go down there and “break a torque wrench off in his rear orifice for using something without permission” he would be less inclined to assist.

When you find out what it was, you can take appropriate (or no) action.

Kang, your missing the point of the thread, I suggest try to read my original post again.

This isn't mechanic put X additive into my engine and this is what I would do to resolve problem by flushing or auto-rxing my engine.

Its if this was done what product would put you more at ease to hear was used?

Obviously if it was in my situation if I was told the mechanic used a kero flush or MMO i'd rather hear MMO.

So the question is if you could hear ANY additive was used, which would put you more at ease? Or you would be more comfortable with.

I've never used Seafoam or MMO in the crankcase so I'd rather it was either the Amsoil or Gunk flushes. I've used these with every oil change for years, makes me think I'm doing a little better oil change. Never had a problem using engine flushes.
