This video shows an immaculate restoration of an old, rusty pipe vise, into better than new condition. If you pause the video at the 19:00 mark, he is shown using a Ballistol brand / type of cold bluing product that works exceptionally well.

It applies with a brush like paint, and produces a nice, heavy blue / black finish almost instantly. Much better than all the cold bluing products that I've tried. I typed it into Amazon, and it shows tons of various Ballistol products. But not this one.

I didn't even know Ballistol made so many different products. (They even have a products for plant and animal care). I'm not seeing that it's available for shipment here in the states. Costs of all the products they have is given in Euros, not dollars.

Normally if they'll ship it here they'll show the cost in dollars. I'm wondering if it's chemical content violates some type of EPA or OSHA law or laws we have here? They do however mention "Amerika USA" in their "Zone 3" shipping.

Probably. But Europe is catching up to our regulation foolishness.

They used to be more lenient. I know when Glock started production in Georgia, they switched from Tenifer to a Melonite type of finish on their slides. And there were some initial rusting issues. As were some of the early Springfield XD models.

The reason Glock switched, was because disposing of the chemicals used for applying Tennifer, was too costly here to make it feasible. As was sending the slides to Austria, then back again, to have the Tenifer process applied there.

Which is why they changed to one of the more "eco friendly" Melonite type of finishes. A Tenifer finished Glock has a more rust and corrosion resistant finish. Melonite and Tenifer are similar, but they're not the same.
