pipe cutter as oil filter cutter?

I have. However rough and tough tradesmen would probably get mad at the thought. I don't know where my tool came from, my father was a CPA pencil pusher lol. The cost of actual oil cutters from summit and other places are a fraction of the cost. If you have one lying around have at it.

Since i only have cut open two filters ever, I didn't care what kind of butcher job it was. I do plan on cutting up one more, as i have an inline oil filter on my ATF now.

P.S. No offense to butchers out there either, aside from the blood everywhere that is a good line of work i know little about.

I have seen several posts on that topic. People have had mixed results with the large HF pipe cutter.

Do an advanced search for "pipe cutter" in quotes with the time period set to 3 years. I got 63 results, many of which were on topic.

For good cuts you should use plastc pipe cutting wheels on the pipe cutter. I already have a pipe cutter, so that is what I use to cut filters open.
