Pick-a-part sadness

If I were crazy enough to try to restore these things, the only way would be to convert to electric. Finding parts for these things must be a nightmare.
 
I bet they end up there when inherited by someone who does not love cars and has no patience to sell them. Or divorce….

If it’s easier to locate the batteries, sure. GM and Ford did announce general availability of their EV powertrains from production models(Bolt and Mach-E) but the batteries are also from that production model. Not so much of a problem in a classic barge from Detroit but in a truck it can be a problem.

There’s a YouTube of someone dropping in a Tesla drivetrain into a classic 911 - the battery pack had to be split with a lot of custom fabrication. GM showed off a 1970s Blazer using the Bolt’s powertrain but the battery pack takes up the entire cargo bay.
