I don't know if this qualifies as tacky as the workmanship looks pretty good, but the idea may be somewhat tacky: a 2006 Toyota Solara converted to a very short bed pickup:

Seen just up the street visiting the lady with the lifted Crosstrek. Those Rotopax 2 gal gas cans are $85, a mount is $40, and no idea what the bracket that mounts to the rack goes for, and it's got 1 on each side. $300 minimum to carry 4 gallons of gas.

How is that a tacky car mod? From what you've posted, it seems that you're judging this person for how much money they've spent. Why else might you have posted the price of every item?

It's a car mod for a "look at me" intention. I guarantee those cans will never have gas in them.
