When taking photos for my album or for a sale listing, I hate distractions in the background. Other cars, trash cans, people, etc. Pretty much use the "clone" function 95% of the time to cover up the annoying parts. Before and after example here. Any other functions that I should use? Using a 20 year old copy of ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5 originally meant for Windows XP.

Having done photo manipulation in a former life I can say that's a perfectly fine job erasing the car. Nobody would ever notice the work if you hadn't shown the before. You can probably do the same with the chimney easily. Edges like the lip of the roof spoiler are harder to do as you've likely found out. If the choice is between a mediocre (& noticeable) change or a car in the background I'd leave the car. People might wonder if you've covered up flaws in the car if they can see something weird in the background.
