Is there a source where I can purchase a 3.6 Pentastar rocker arm and lifter kit? Preferably Melling brand? There are lots of cheap Chinese kits available on Amazon but I want to stick with a name brand product.

Interesting, over 12,000,000 of them made as of date. Taking that into account, I think the engine is doing pretty well.

Much like Ford vs. GM, Toyota, vs. Honda, etc. and lets not forget the EV, haters will hate. ;)

Yup... I would not want to own one..IMO
I own one. It's one of the best engines I've owned. 76k on it, so it's just a baby. It's warranty cost for the manufacturer is one of the lowest in the industry. When 14 million engines are out there, even if a tiny percentage have a problem then every shop out there will have seen it and will think it is common.

I'm in two Jeep clubs and there are literally dozens with over 250k miles on them and the vast majority of club members have had zero issues. One guy did say it was the worst engine he's had because his failed and wasn't covered under warranty. Why? He went through water up to the base of the windshield and it hydrolocked. He insists it was the engine's fault. LOL.

Glad you like it... Not me....

The 3.6 pentastar is a very good engine IMO. But the oil cooler leaks and rocker arm/lifter issues cannot be denied.
Doesn’t matter how many millions are out there, for those that had the failure it’s irrelevant and I totally get their disappointment.
Never said it was irrelevant, but by that logic, it is irrelevant to those who haven't had a problem. I do sympathize with anyone who has experienced a problem. No fun paying big $$$ for vehicles and having them fail or experience a costly repair.

But I still think it is a great engine. Ward's also thinks so, as Pentastar iterations have been on their top 10 engines in the world list at least 7 times. That's a prized award in the industry.

Simple fact is that a LOT of them have oil cooler and rocker arm issues. That's just the way it is. If you don't have those problems, that's great. Mine was a 2014 and it definitely did.
Agreed
It's not exactly a bad engine, but it does have some chronic issues that it's contemporaries don't

My dad's 2013 300 3.6 was a disaster
Perpetual ticking/tapping, from a fairly low mileage
One cylinder head at 77k, the other at 97k
Two oil coolers, a water pump that seized and nuked the belt
Two starters, one flexplate
Internal trans cooler failure that burst a cooler line, causing the transmission to unalive itself

It's a nice sounding, smooth revving, relatively fuel efficient, torquey SOB, but the long term reliability seems lacking

They say the 2018+ were better, they're dropping like flies in Pacifica's now 🤔

It looks like they're going with the 3.6L as an option for 2024 in the Wrangler lineup, same configuration as far as I can tell. That indicates the engine will be around a little longer. It's too early to tell if they changed anything, but still no DI. The 3.0L Hurricane won't be in the Wrangler until the next generation, which will be a few years away. Apparently they can afford the warranty claims.
