Pennzoil Yellow Bottle 10w30

After 30+ oil brands and grades, Pennzoil Conventional 10w30 is the smoothest and quietest oil tested in my noise bucket Subaru...Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10w30 is excellent as well and the engine spins up noticeably faster and gets a bit better MPG over Pennzoil Conventional 10w30.

I am done.

Hyundai is not known for quiet engines but they are usually very good engines...remember in the early 80's the mercedes diesels sounded like they were going to throw a rod any minute they sounded like that when new and at 500.000 they sounded the same way... I remember the old cat engines on bulldozers the more noise they made the longer they ran...

I went with a friend to test drive the new Sonata...The 2.4 engine was pretty quiet except for the DI pitter-patter that wasn't too obnoxious. The new Sonata is an excellent car now but the driving dynamics are still not as good as Camry and Accord...Kind of a deal breaker.

Hmmm! I am surprised you mention Camry & Accord in the same sentence when describing "driving dynamics"! Although the new for '15 refresh of the Camry is way better in those terms of driving dynamics than before. The new for '15 Sonata is typically mentioned as being in the middle of both the CamCord by most member of the press and in reviews!

The Sonata is certainly a vehicle that is near the top of my list for testing/consideration for my next car.

What year is your Subaru?

I've yet to try Pennzoil Conventional in my Subaru b/c I primarily use synthetic, but for me Valvoline SynPower/Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic were the smoothest/quietest oils that I used. From the few times I did use conventional oil (mostly Havoline), Mobil Super 5000 was the smoothest. I might consider Pennzoil Conventional or Pennzoil Gold if I decide to use a conventional or blend oil again.

Does Pennzoil Conventional and Pennzoil High Mileage use the same formula with Pennzoil High Mileage having added seal conditioners? I looked them both up on PQIA and they look very similar.

It should tell you how far Honda has fallen

I did not mind the old Camry (Father's car). It was soft and for some folks, that is fine. My father laments they do not make Caddies "correct" anymore and the Camry was a good substitute. Not quite as good, but better for those who did not want a firm ride. The Accord is good but if I am looking for a better driving sedan, I would go with the Mazda6. Then again a sport-sedan is a compromise without a winner. Just get the 2-seater and a beater

As for the Subaru, Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Conventional typically do well (in self-reports) for boxers but at then end of the day, none are going to do much more than a placebo. Oil does not solve a harsh Subie and in the old EJs most folks can't tell if I am running 5w20, a mix, or 10w40.

I've had both Camry and Accords. And the Camry is easier going and the Accord is more edgy! Driven Mazda 3's & 6's and they are among the sportiest.

The Sonata's that I have driven(2006 &'11) were both very Camry-like. I like what I've been reading on the '15 Sonata. Seems kind'a in the middle!

Yes, which is a good thing IMO. The HM is thicker and should have some extra seal conditioners but otherwise they do appear to be virtually identical blend wise.

Now if we could just get a used oil analysis/VOA on the Dexos syn blend!

The Pennzoil High Mileage 10w30 was pretty smooth as well and took a bit more go-pedal with a measurable MPG hit...It is a HTHS 3.3 oil in my tired old under-powered 2001 Subaru EJ25.

I was going to do the PGB 5w30 Dexos next until I decided to quit this foolishness and just stick with Delo 15w30....

The 2015 Sonata 2.4 Limited had more body roll and less agility than both the 2015 Camry LE and Accord 2.4 EX-L. $27K Limited fully loaded is a great deal for the Sonata. The 1.6L turbo was laggy and had an obnoxious 1->2 shift with the DCT...Deal breaker. The touchscreen head unit was a bit slow to respond as well but not a deal breaker. If they tweak the driving dynamics to that of the Accord - Even to the Camry level - they would have had a sale.

I have to object to your characterization of MB diesels.
We had 2 1978 W123 240Ds and while they were clattery until they warmed up a bit, they never sounded as though they were going to "throw a rod".
Once you got above the ridiculously slow idle (although there was a hand throttle for that), they were smooth and sounded good, although you never forgot that you were driving a diesel.
If you needed to be reminded, though, you could always try a little acceleration, something that a 240D doesn't really do.
These cars are so slow that I've known people to test drive one in perfect health and ask whether something was wrong with the thing.
Normal starts happened in second gear with the otherwise excellent MB four speed automatic, which didn't help either.
Slow they may have been. Mechanically noisy they weren't.

Whoa, you're right. I've had Peak 5w30 in my Tracker since I bought it a year and a half ago, and I just put in Pennzoil Conventional 10w30 SM rated and the first thing I noticed driving it home was how much quieter and perceived smoothness of the engine was.

Whoa, you're right. I've had Peak 5w30 in my Tracker since I bought it a year and a half ago, and I just put in Pennzoil Conventional 10w30 SM rated and the first thing I noticed driving it home was how much quieter and perceived smoothness of the engine was.


The SN Pennzoil Conventional is even better, more moly in it.

but the Hyundai is a great car with the best warranty there are what Honda And Toyota used to be
