Where have I been? I swear I missed some details on this oil and it seems as it isn't really marketed well. I've almost always used either Mobil 1 or Castrol products, but I saw the VOA for a grade of Ultra showing a TBN of 13 and the Q&A on the site says the average for all grades is between 11-12. Sure makes me think I should at least give this one a try next time. I'm swimming in Mobil 1 from all the deals I got a while back, but I now researching Ultra I'm seeing a lot of good stuff.

I'll probably try the 5w30 next or the 10w30 of the PU after my M1 then. I only run the 5w30 of the M1 over the the 10w30 because the 5w30 is actually thicker at operating temp.

PU is my favorite brand. ONLY reason why it's not in my car is because it's too freakin hard to find...5w-40 that is. I would be a Pennzoil Ultra fanboy if shelves have these stocked...

There's a good price on the 5w40 with free shipping from Amazon right now. I'd prefer the 5w40 out of any of the grades for my cars, but 5w30 would be more than adequate for mine. If I had enough room to store it I would snag a couple of the cases to try it.

Yeah I'm ready to pick some up and send in Pennzoil Ultra rebates to knock down the price even more. Sadly though, with Mobil 1 0w-40 easily had for $5/qt, Pennzoil Ultra 5w-40 without a sale is a little hard to buy.

Yep, I have the same dilemma as well. I have Mobil 1 0w40 on my shelf right now.

Fear not PU is a fine fine oil capable of extended drains,no research needed buy it and use it you wont be disappointed,i have 5 5qt jugs in stash waiting to be used/tried.

I figure because I'm finally coming around away from this thicker is better malarky, what is a better thin to mid viscosity then Pennzoil Ultra 5w30?

I'm sure I'll change my mind again in two years when my current supply finally disappears, but if I find some good deals on Pennzoil Ultra as I get some shelf space I'll probably snag some.

Anyone else having trouble finding it? One Walmart has three of the 10w30 jugs and that's it. I'll run the 10w30 as I was considering that weight, but it looks as if they have no intention to restock it.

yep, it just hasn't "caught on" well enough to stock it......even my local Walmart, the bottles are all dusty....real disappointing. I think they sell more Royal Purple quarts, than they do PU jugs...lol.

And now my local Walmart even has the new "SN" RP in 5w30 flavor....

Last year one of our local Walmart had the 5qt jugs for $15. The cashier said that it was due to that specific store was no longer going to stock it. Bought 7 jugs.

You know what, I'm going to price check some old Ultra bottles at a local Walmart that were placed at the back of the oil section. Maybe it's clearanced SM?

I purchased some PU in 5W20 about 2 weeks ago, API rated SM. None of the other PU bottles had the SN, PP did but no PU. All PU priced at 27.57 for now. If Walmart is going to phase it out, I'll have to keep an eye on it for a good deal.

It was phased out at my Walmart back in the spring.I got a heck of a deal-jugs of 5-20 were 5.00 each and 10-30 were 3.00 each.I have another Walmart within 5 miles and it still has Ultra for full price.I think it is a store by store deal. Strange.I never figured out why Pennzoil would have 2 synthetics competing with each other at about the same price.

I heard that Walmart was going to stop stocking it a while back so I bought some to keep on the shelf. There are two Walmart's close to our house that we visit regularly and both seem to keep it in stock. 5W-20 and 5w30 are both available in 5qt jugs.

I am still up in the air for my 2001 Jeep GC between PP and PU. I have a little more time to decide as my reman engine is not up to 6000 miles yet. I will check Walmart tonight for any deals.
