I see it's now available. I have a fairly new Cobalt Turbo and added Ultra 5-30 recently. I see that the Euro spec Ultra has an HT/HS of 3.7 vs the *regular* Ultra 5-30 of 3.1. cSt@100C are 12.0 vs 10.3 respectively. Should I switch over to the Euro Spec next time? Looks pretty good for a Turbo car with 300HP. I know there's a 5-40 available as well, but I'd like thoughts on the Euro 5-30, since that's the grade recommended by GM.
Any thoughts appreciated.

The Euro 5W-30 is a low SAP oil. I wound't use this oil in your car. Our gas isn't up to par comapred to Euro gas. Why not try Castrol Syntec 0W-30?

B/O on Amazon, but will be available again there..free shipping.
also...Oil-store dotcom. You pay shipping though.

I have a DI car.
found this post here:

Hello, I recently joined the forum, after reading occasionally over the years. I've started paying particular attention to the DI engines, especially Audi's, as I have a 2010 S5 on order with the 4.2 FSI V8 engine.

I didn't see this discussed in this thread or other Audi DI threads, so if I overlooked it please excuse me. I came across this article from Lubrizol, presented at a 2006 conference: http://www.lubrizol.com/EuropeanEngineOils/UEIL2006LowerSAPS.html it's titled "Lower SAPS Engine Oils:
Essential components in maintaining vehicle emissions compliance", and it's interesting reading, especially when you get to page 19.

They claim testing has proven that Euro 4 lower SAPS oils are significantly better in preventing valve deposits in direct injection gasoline engines, in comparison to OEM-approved Euro 3 engine oils.

Can prevention or reduction of valve deposits really be that simple? There may be much to this, if rli-rs4's data compilation has shown the RLI Biosyn to show a significant improvement. Thoughts, please? What are the Audi-approved Euro 4 low SAP oils out there?

Any thoughts?

What about mixing 2Qts Ultra Euro 5/40 (40% mix) with 3qts Ultra regular 5/30? That should up the HT/HS a bit.
Think I'll do that instead of straight Euro 5/30 (low SAP).

I read that PDF. I even bought some 504 low SAP oil for my 2010 GTI. I sent it in for a VOA. It has really low additives. The DI engine cars in Europe burn on lean mode. We can't do that in the the US because of the quality of the gas.. E10!

BMW and Mercedes don't recommend low SAP oils in the US either.

I have Redline 5W-40 in my DI engine car. From the UOA's I have read. It has been showing good results from fuel dilution and flashpoint retention.

Try Redline 5W-30. It has a HT/HS of 3.8 and a noack of 6%. It's shear stable and the evaporation loss is one of the lowest on the market.
