They use these engines in other parts of the world on all the viscosities i mentioned, there is no difference in the clearances in the NA version.
They run on xW20 okay but users of xW30 often report lower oil consumption and show fewer deposits. Some claim the xW20 oils have higher VI which they claim contributes to engine deposits.
From my own observations and tear downs on these engines over the last decade there seems to be some truth to that.
