Pennzoil Platinum date code survey

I just purchased 5 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 from my local China-Mart. The date codes indicated that all five quarts were packaged on January 4, 2008 at 14:45 hours. I had to dig through the rack to find a recent date code, as almost all of the Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 quarts were packaged on July 3, 2007.

There used to be a post about Pennzoil Platinum date codes, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Just curious what date codes the rest of you are seeing out there for Pennzoil Platinum?

Does not surprise me that most of the 5W-20 you find in Houston is dated in July. Even though the mfg recommend it, it is not a big seller especially in south Texas.

FWIW, PP has a 60 month shelf life when kept indoors.

I have no doubt that the PP made in July is still good. I read something about a recent change in PP in the used oil analysis section and wanted to make sure that I got the latest and greatest stuff.

recent change in PP? Not that I have heard of yet. The only change is in the shape of the bottles.

I rechecked the used oil analysis section and found out that older batches of PP have more Calcium and Zinc. I misread and assumed that something had recently changed. Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, I always try to get the "freshest" batch available.
