At Pep Boys I saw Pennzoil in an oil change shrink wrapped package with Slick 50. I'd be hard pressed to trust any product from a company that sells Slick 50. If they can sell Slick 50 with a straight face, imagine what else they have up their sleeve. This company must put flash far ahead of everything else.

it's not just the Pennzoil that's being wrapped up in celephane next to a box of slick s#(!y. I've seen a lot of quaker state dino boxed with it also. QS and penz are all comin from the same nuthouse..

I concur- I don't care how good PP is, I won't support their product in any way. They put their name on fram filters, and own the IFFYEST loob stop ever. (jiffy lube) (iffy lube) (iffy loob) (double digit IQ requirement loob) (we hire monkeys loob) (we recomend a *insert uneeded flush here* at this insane price loob) (lousy corperate operation loob) Now they are putting their name next to slick 50. As bitogers, we shouldn't support them, we know better! hehe.

mdocod, I know where your comming from but if we all really stopped buying based on similar marketing tactics used by other companies, we'd have no one to buy anything from. I prefer buying products from companies that make quality their #1 concern, and put the in your face marketing on the back burner. Tough to find these days...

I won't believe that Group III Pennzoil will make a FULL PAO/ester until they list the ingredients on the bottle.

How many hybrids use 0w20?

Marketing must be working overtime at Pennzoil.

Pennzoil Platinum is not Group III sir.

I asked two techs today from Shell. Both said Platinum is Group III. Not sure about the Hybrid oil.

buster,
Johnny and I had a little chat about this "rep" in the Tech Services department who believed that all Platinum products are GrpIII.

This guy needs to be "retrained" or FIRED!

Its funny how Johnny said that no wonder they have trouble selling this stuff, they hire idiots like that guy!

Michael, Johnny has confirmed it's EOP. I'm sure it's great. Your right, they should be retrained!

If that's true they need to update the pennzoilplatinum.com website. Under base oils when you click on the beaker it says the base oils are mineral oils that are broken down and rebuilt to maximize whatever...can't remember exact, don't have sound here. But from what it says there is no other choice but group III.

Listen to PENNZOILS own website

Someone is wrong OBVIOUSLY. I never said who.

BTW, notice the first thing I said was the website needs to be updated. I did not say anything against Johnny's info. So yes I already read that thread.
Maybe it is a side-effect of large corporations? You'll never find anything on a RL site saying they use rebuilt mineral oil. But then again, you wouldn't on a M1 site either

I never said that person was an idiot or they hire idiots and they should not be fired. They give out the information they are told to give out. The information I received was from one of the head chemist who designed the Platinum product line. For some reason they choose not to toot their horn at this time, and I don't know why.

Folks,
I apologize for that statement I made earlier. Johnny never called the guy an idiot...it was me who added my $0.02 into that statement that misrepresented Johnny's initial comments about the situation.

Sorry about the inaccuracy,
MW

When the 0W20 Honda Hybred oil comes out it will be PAO and Ester based, and the European Formulas are PAO and Ester based.

What percentages I don't know. They won't give me that information.

Anyone see the Hybrid oil? Looks good. PAO/Ester based.

Johny other than lower cost to produce than a PAO is there any advantage?
Noack?

The Insights use it, but I don't know any other car that it's spec'd for.
I checked the Honda 0W-20 out at the dealership a couple months ago. It was only cdn$5 a litre but it was an SJ oil. They must not use it much.

Glad to hear someone else is making a 0W-20.
