Anyone using this oil. I am thinking about running it in both my Ranger and my son's old Mercedes beater. My Ranger seeps a little here and there and so does my son's car. Both are 130k miles plus but run good and need nothing except maybe a gasket here and there. I will be doing valve cover gaskets soon on my Ranger. From what I have found on this oil it compares to Pennzoil conventional with a little difference. I can't find a used oil analysis or VOA on it. As a matter of fact I can find very little on this oil other then what is on the Pennzoil website.
 
Thanks, The viscosity doesn't bother me. I live in a very hot climate. I normally run a 10w30 as it rarely gets below 50* here. Temps up into the 100+ range in the summer. I am wondering if this is a better oil then Pennzoil conventional? I am planning on buying a few OCIs worth for both vehicles and am looking for all the info I can find.
 
I used the Pennzoil High Mileage 5w30 in our Ford Exp last fall and it slowed the leaking a little, but nothing like the semi-syn Valvoline MaxLife, which I plan to keep using.

it is a decent oil. my hyundai likes it, toyota does not.

i am still a firm believer in max life though. if you dont have max life Pennzoil High Mileage aint a bad 2nd choice.
 
One of my main reasons for posting is to find out if the HM is as good or better then the Pennzoil conventional. Both cars that Im looking to use this in are older but in pretty good shape. My Ranger doesn't use a drop of oil between changes @ 5,000 miles. What I am wondering is if the HM is a stout conventional oil.
NOT interested in Maxlife suggestions.

Ok, suit yourself.

And as for your question about Pennzoil, they are all pretty decent. If your car is not leaking oil, Pennzoil Conventional will do just fine. The High Mileage may have a little more additive and anti-leak properties but Pennzoil Conventional is stout enough on its own merit. Use whatever you feel like buying.

Logic would dictate it's as good as Pennzoil conventional, It's just heavier, with more detergents and seal conditioners.
 
Thanks for the replys guys. I was under the impression that the HM was as good but can find no VOAs on it at all. I hate flying blind if you know what I mean.

I agree that would be logical, we know it's heavier but and presumably has seal conditioners but I've not been able to find much of anything on the actual add pack. SOPUS seems to treat the stuff as an afterthought, regular Pennzoil Conventional is clearly their golden boy cash cow. I wish the PQIA would test a bunch of the major's High Mileage oils.

On paper QS Defy spanks it's SOPUS big brother PennHigh Mileage, and it costs less too.

There are actually several used oil analysis available on Defy, ignore the VOA that was posted when the stuff was brand new Blackstone messed that one up all the subsequent used oil analysis have indicated Defy is exactly what SOPUS said it would be.

But even just looking at SOPUS's own published specs on the two, Defy looks to be better stuff, it's known to be a syn-blend and also has a much higher VI with similar thick HTHS and kinematic viscosity's as Pennzoil High Mileage.

It makes no sense Pennzoil would neglect one of their product lines. Would would Pennzoil High Mileage be worse than Pennzoil Conventional?

Nope, never been able to find any either. We have a few on Defy. I was running Castrol High Mileage for a while and virtually no used oil analysis for it either.

I try to post used oil analysis of oils priced for mere mortals once in a while for just that reason.

Thanks KCJeep, I did find some of the Defy used oil analysis that you posted and also saw the VOA that you warned me about. The Defy looks pretty good. I might just go that route. I am running Quaker State Ultimate Durability right now and like it. And I have been using the Defy in my lawn mower. I might just start using it in everything. My goal to begin with was to find one oil that would suit all my needs. I like SOPUS products so the Defy fits.
 
I'm on my first run of Defy right now, like it so far, always planned to try PennHM sometime but never got to it yet, can't really see it being any better than Defy anyway but you never know till you try it.

Anyway it sound like it's worth trying for your needs.

Or you can do PennHM and do a used oil analysis so we finally have one!
