Well I was going to get the 6 quarts from Amazon because then I can buy one quart from autozone. But idk if I can mix them? Or are they the same just newer naming?

Why do you say that?

I wouldn't spend all that money and then mix them.

Get some Castrol 0w40 from Walmart at nearly half the price instead.

I am taking a guess here. Because the picture on the one is not working right but I am at work and this computer system is a little jacked up at times

but is one the Pureplus Euro 5w-40 newest version and the other is the 5w-40 Ultra Euro older version ?? Really should not be an issue mixing the two at all I would think. At least they are made from the Pennzoil and same viscosity. But I will have to admit I am interested in what other people think as well

But I need 7 quarts and my local autozone only carries this:

What's the difference?

One is Platinum, which is new on the market.
One is Ultra, which has been on the market a long time.
But the specs on the TDS's are very close: viscosities, density, pour point, cold cranking, flash point.
I think you can use them interchangeably. Blending in 1 quart of Ultra with 6 quarts of Platinum certainly won't cause a problem.

Not the same, but probably very close. Without doing a very expensive oil analysis, we cannot really tell a whole lot about the differences, just judging from the TDS.

However, both versions meet the same exact OEM mfg specs, so from that standpoint, the two oils can be considered 'equal' as far as performance goes. That's all you really need to know.

Now lay off the magic mushrooms, pick an oil already, and move on with your life.

Hey Gearhead1194 - In 2014, we discontinued Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W-40, there may still be some product on local auto parts store shelves but be assured it is no longer in production. The new product we launched to meet the same specifications as Pennzoil Ultra Euro in our Pennzoil Platinum line of full synthetics is named Pennzoil Platinum Euro with PurePlus Technology 5W-40. If your local AutoZone still has the older product on it's shelves, your best bet is to speak with local management (who can request the product from regional Pennzoil sales reps) and/or purchase Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 from the Amazon link you provided. Hope this is helpful! - The Pennzoil Team

The question was "what is the difference" between the two?

the autozone that had ultra now has changed stock to pennzoil platinum euro 5w40. But it's $9.50 a quart! That's expensive as [censored]. That's like boutique oil price.

Pennzoil has confirmed to me that this is the data sheet for the old:
https://prodepc.blob.core.windows.net/ep...130123090_5.pdf

And this is the new:
https://prodepc.blob.core.windows.net/ep...00906031757.pdf

The noack went from 6.8 in the old to 11 in the new! Wow that's crazy! Seems the old ultra was also a little thicker. Wonder why they reformulated to something that seems... Worse

At $9.50 a quart when I need 8 quarts, that would cost me $76 before tax, and almost 83 after tax! I don't know if another oil that would cost that much. Why is it so expensive?!

It is not new. It is in fact very old, from May 2009, if you look at the footer.

The new stuff is API SN, and its PDS is here:

As I told you in an earlier thread, Pennzoil no longer lists Noack for it.

As far as price, you can just wait for a price drop on Amazon and get it on Subscribe&Save and free shipping. It ends up being around $6.50/qt. Or wait for a BOGO sale at one of the local retailers. I got mine for about $3/qt earlier this year.

When I emailed pennzoil i asked specifically for the tech specs for there "pennzoil platinum euro 5w40 with pure plus" and they sent me the link to the on I posted. That's weird. Kinda hard to figure out which one it actually is then.. Kinda scares me.

I do agree that the one you linked must be the current one on the shelves as the one I linked doesn't state Porsche a40 or anything about Ferrari and the ones in the shelf now list both of those specs. I wish they would list the noack. Is it likely under 10 because of the specs that it meets?
