Filter was Purolator Premium Plus L-20073.

Six quart capacity.

Earlier fills were Mobil1 0w-20, Pennzoil Plat. 5w-20, left to right.

I dumped this oil even earlier than usual because the car suffered a rear end collision knocking it into the car in front of us. The engine seems noisier to me now. Probably just me worrying to much.

The new fill is Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20. Purolator Premium Plus L-20073 filter.

Your engine noise could be due to your exhaust, perhaps. Have you inspected that fully yet? Could also be something that got knocked loose or bent... Looks great though! I know how it goes with the worrying, I always hear engine noise with my car too, even after having the timing belt changed, and the valves adjusted. Had it analyzed twice since then and it shows up with low wear so I have no idea what it could be, probably the exhaust. It seems to go away after it warms up -shrugs- nice car you have though, I've always liked the SE-R Spec-V. How is it so far?

you should have the other guy's insurance pay for any damage. I got rearended and it caused my 92 mitsu mirage flexplate to crack.

Mr. Springfield,

Why such short oil change intervals on these three oils? I understand about the accident, but the M-1 and the other Pennzoil run looks as though the oil was just getting started.

Was that 0w20 or 5w20 Platinum that you put into your crankcase recently?

Yeah, I'd have someone check your motor mounts and a few other things, as well. Depending upon how bad the impact was, certain non-obvious things can get damaged and never be caught by the shop.

Thirdeye, yeah I love the car. I've added lots of after market parts. The car handles extremely well. I'm planning on adding a supercharger next fall after the car is paid off. Or, I might just sell it and pick up that Mazdaspeed 3.

Cutehumor, the guy who hit me had insurance and paid for the damages. Over $2000 worth. The kicker was the next morning after the accident I found my driver side window smashed and my Autometer oil gauges had been stolen!

dkryan, old habits die hard. Those were spring and fall changes. It currently has the 0w20 in it.

Results look good, why are you dumping the oil so early? I assume you have removed the counter-rotating balancing shafts to get the 6 qt. capacity?

I had an '03 Spec-V that I wrecked last year, Was in great shape, never used a drop of oil ... but my UOAs never looked nearly as good as yours.

Please excuse me for going

Do additives last longer when PureOne class oil filter is used, or does upgrading not benefit additives(tbn).
Thanks, Joe

Numbers look excellent.
Insolubles could be better with the low mileage, especially when considering the filter and sump size.
Use the Wix equivalent(51347) or the 51344 oversized option.

Nissans usually like thicker oils. These UOAs show that thin oil works just as well when sump capacity and flow is addressed.

You should run the oil to 5k for better ppm averages. A TBN should be considered. This will give you an idea if you can go further like 7.5k or more(benefit of big sump).

I'm planning on running this oil into next summer. Probably 4 to 5 thousand miles. I'll definitely get a TBN.

(Sangamon = Captain Howdy, registration screw up, my bad)
