PCB anti-corrosion coatings

Hello,

What would one use as an anti-corrosion coating on a PCB. Per my other thread on the 14250 battery holder, Im swapping out circuit boards on my 19yo BMW gauge cluster, but since Ill be doing some soldering, it would be smart to replentish the coatings that I see on there.

Any ideas?

you really dont need to - its not a high-moisture environment. if you really want, brush on a clear coat

of what? Paint? Lacquer? Urethane?

You could put a dab of silicone dielectric grease on that spot. It'll do the job.

Urethane is the best option to save from rusting.Many company providing polyurea spray e.g ultimate linings,xtremeliners ,qwikliner etc.

Conformal coating is the pro stuff for circuit boards. Window clear RTV might work.

No need to put anything on it, certainly not RTV unless it is the "sensor safe" variety.

For reference, I believe the bare copper wire used for coils is coated with polyurethane.

Clear gloss lacquer or urethane.
A few light coats are better than one heavy one.
