I've become something of a synthetic oil snob after 25 years of using Amsoil.... This group III oil meets my standards and I highly recommend it for Canadian listers ....This and Molson XXX may be the best two things to come out of the Great White North in the past 10 years ...

Very nice! I've never seen this oil around here though, so I assume it's something you'd have to contact Petro Canada directly to find out who distributes it.

I think this would be a good oil for my LT1 Firebird.

Where does the viscosity of this oil start out?

And you forgot to list the Patman as another good thing to come out of the GWN!

I found the answer to my question on Petro Can's website, this oil starts out at 15.5 cst at 100c. That's probably a tad too thick for my LT1 then, which I'd prefer to run an oil closer to 13cst.

Here are the specs on this oil from the PC website:

vis at 40c 95.5 cst
vis at 100c 15.5 cst
HTHS 4.2
Cold cranking viscosity 3097cp at -25C, 5500cp at -30C
Pour point -39F
Flash point 451F
TBN 10.9

Pat,

Dont you live right near the PC Plant?

I know you can buy this stuff in Michigan - surely it's all over the place in Canada???

The 5w-40, Group III oils will shear a bit - I think this batch started out @ approx 15.0 Cst. TBN is advertised as 10.0 but that was the older CH-4 version. The CI-4 stuff is 10.7 as I recall ....

A very good alternative to the Mobil 1, 5w-30 for high mileage engines or severe service applications ....

Yes, the PC plant is about 15-20min from me, but I think it's been shut down since the explosion a few months ago. I know it's permanently shutting down sometime next year actually.

Believe it or not I've never seen this oil anywhere up here, certainly not at Walmart or Canadian Tire (the two biggest places where oil is sold here) At Petro Canada gas stations they only tend to carry 5w30 and 10w30.
