I was watching Susan Esterich on Fox News Friday night. The guest was the Democratic mayor of St. Paul, MN. This man, I can't recall his name, has apparently made some sort of endorsement of Dubya due to his feelings that we are at war.

Ms. Esterich asked him what Hubert Humphrey would have thought of him. The mayor responded that Hubert Humphrey would have respected his decision as it was made on principle. Ms. Esterich then asked him what about his party loyalty? The mayor responded that his loyalty to the nation came before his loyalty to his party. Ms. Esterich was disgusted.

Folks, regardless of what party you are affiliated with, party loyalty is cr@p. Mr. Jeffords switched and I did not hear a load of b.s. about being loyal to one's party. Being true to your convictions is what is important regardless of where they might lean. The mayor had said that the level of discourse had become too divided and nasty. Mr. Obama's speech at the convention brought the same message.

In January, Mr. Bush or Mr. Kerry will be president. It will not affect most of us in our daily lives. Whoever the man is who sits in the office, I hope he is a great president that history will look kindly on.

We can disagree about the road we take, but not about the destination point. We, in the USA, want what's best for our country and our allies in the pursuit of freedom. Let's respect each other.

Great point and great post GM. Agree 100%. Ms. Esterich was wrong. Partly loyalty is garbage. How about loyalty to our country Ms. Esterich? We need to unite and do whats best right now and I hope who ever wins can do a great job.

That's because he switched from an evil fascist party out to destroy all humanity to a non-party, thus allowing the only party obviously worthy of governing to achieve their legislative agenda. Any "humanitarian" reporter can see this was a good thing.

Is that the woman that sounds like she smokes 60 cigarettes a day? I think her "party loyalty above doing what you think is best for the nation" is a very sad opinion and probably accurate for most all the folks in Congress (who will get screwed by the party if they deviate).

If Jeffords had switched the other way (democrat to republican) you would have heard plenty about a republican takeover against the voters wishes, what did they bribe him with, the guy is a worthless turncoat, yadadadada.

Keith.
