I am looking at flushing my ps fluid this weekend, and I was wondering which synthetic to use in my 2005 silverado pickup. I am looking for something that i can pick up locally (walmart, napa, checker)

The most readily available one is Valvoline Synpower, but it's only a syn. blend.

I saw valvoline synpower, at one of the local auto stores and it was 4 a quart. thought it was a little inexpensive for full syn. I use amsoil in the rest of the truck, but they don't have a ps fluid. So I would like to go mobil 1. but I can't seem to find it.
I looked at the specs for Synpower and compared to the specs for Havoline PS fluid. I couldn't find any evidence that the Synpower was any better. My guess is that the "syn blend" is only a tiny percentage synthetic.
Personally, I have decided to just use standard fluid and keep it fresh by turkey baster changing every oil change.

Mobil 1 ATF at AutoZone, assuming it meets GM's power steering spec.

I went with valvoline synpower. I just changed the fluid in the res. Only 15000 miles on the originial stuff, but it was squeeling when it was cold (below 32f) when it started up. This morning it didn't make a peep. I think I will be changing it this way from now on when ever I change my oil. It only takes a 1/2 quart.

I have an '00 Grand Am GT with 102K miles. Around 90K, a wine devoloped in the steering unit. When I hit 100K, I used a turkey baster to suction out the fluid from the PS resovoir. When I filled it back up, I used Valvoline SynPower PS fluid. I also added an ounce of Auto-RX. 1000 miles later I did the same thing. Right now the wine in the steering unit is completely gone and the steering wheel is MUCH smoother overall when making turns. Even if you don't have some Auto-RX to use, my vote would be for the Valvoline SynPower PS fluid.
EDIT: I just realized you already went with the SynPower fluid. Good choice. Glad to hear you already getting positive results.

Umm isn't PS fluid in domestics just AT fluid...? If so why not use amsoils synthetic tranny fluid, assuming they make some.
I believe GM doesn't allow for ATF fluid to be used in the PS system.
