P/S fluid change, particulate in the fluid...

Ive been slowly changing out the P/S fluid in the Accord in my sig over a period of weeks using the turkey baster method and genuine Honda Power Steering fluid. The first drain of the fluid from the reservoir came out a medium brown color (brand new its clear) and was clean. No particles whatsoever, just a couple bubbles from the sucking action of the baster. Well the last two drains yielded some particles in the fluid, it looks as if some crud had settled in the bottom and was disturbed by the baster, but then again it didnt happen on the first drain. Is it possible the new fluid cleaned up some gunk of some sort? Or is something breaking down in the system? The particles are small flat type particles, almost like stuck together dirt of some kind. But the color is dark brown to black. Hard to really tell as it was suspended in the fluid.

Can you confirm your turkey baster was clean prior to the change?

You will likely have to keep draining and filling the reservoir multiple times until the fluid is very transparent or clear.

Alternative is to have someone assist from below as a power steering line is disconnected and someone up top is pouring in fresh fluid.

Yes, the turkey baster was completely clean for all extractions. Like I said, these particles did not show up until after the new fluid was introduced.

Is the complete flush using the return line not an option on this vehicle? More efficient than multiple dilutions of new/old and easier than someone down below.

Did not do it on a honda, but when I did a vehicle with the return line, I jacked the front tires off the ground to turn the wheel back and forth and did not have to start it so it pumped slower. I also didn't add an extension hose, just placed a container in the engine bay and held the line in it and had 2nd person stop when I needed to add more fluid. Can buy assorted size vacuum camps from auto stores
