General question to those who are better in the know.

Over the past year I have picked up 2 2007 vehicles.

In June of 2010 my 2007 Dodge Nitro & in May 2011 my 2007 VW Jetta 2.0T

Both vehicles within a week of driving off the lot had Oxygen Sensor failures that were both replaced under warranty.

Coincidence or are Oxygen Sensors prone to go if the vehicles sit for a while ( at the dealer lot for example. I find it interesting I had the same issue with two different vehicles under the same circumstances.

Both vehicles have not had the issue since driving off the lot and they were a year apart.

As for gas, the Nitro gets 87 & the Jetta 91.

Not the grade, but the Brand. To me, you would want to use a Top Tier gasoline as recommended by a group of car manuf. such as BMW,Toyota, GM, etc. Google for a list of gasoline brands judged to be Top Tier.

Maybe I misrepresented my question.

The issue is not happening now, it was when I first bought the cars - a week from driving them off the lot...they are all good now.

Yes, I generally stick to Top Tier gasoline.

Mine went out 3 years after I bought the truck new. Some make it 10 or more years and some seem to fail early.....
My truck was driven easy and I looked after it the best I could. My dad's and brother's car saw very little maintenance and theirs lasted over 10 years each before unloading the cars.

It could be you're the first to get the car up to temperature and have a fault... not something they'd notice on pre-delivery inspection.

I hope (and would bet) it's not something like low grade silicone off gassing something that poisons the things. You'd think the OEs would be pretty paranoid about that.
