So let's cut to the chase. Whom over 70 is still working on their own vehicles? Doing more than brakes and oil changes? That's my limit.

Ask me in two years. 
Me at 73, but i draw the line at tire rotations. Im not wrestling truck tires until after I have my hernia fixed.

68 and was just under the Equinox yesterday changing the diff clutch and rear diff fluids. Did the trans a couple of months ago and will do the transfer case soon. Getting ready to do some suspension & brake work on the travel trailer. Think things through now no more brute forcing, the brute left the building.

Hernia- just another item on my list of body parts that need repairs..... I spent so much time in and out of the hospital in 2024 I need a break before I get back to having items on my "body parts repair list" scheduled and fixed. Some weeks all I do is go to Doctors. Ugh.
I finally had to draw the line and stop any tool work except for oil changes. I can only get away with those when the wife is not around to fuss at me "get off that darned floor and put those tools down! Now." "I am not wanting to go back to the Emergency Room when you get hurt!"
I made 72 in March. I love my tools. Maybe by the time I'm 80 I will quit making mistakes? All good.
My dad isnt quite to 70 yet (69 tomorrow) but he still fixes cars professionally, He picks and chooses these days, I do whatever he doesnt want to do. Today for him was state inspection and 4 wheel brake job on a promaster (I helped with the brakes while I was waiting for parts for something I was working on) and inspection on a Silverado.
74. 2003 chevy astro van and 2013 equinox. Oil changes and grease the van. Brakes on both. Never get in a hurry if it takes a few days to complete a project that's just ok. I talk to my self. Mind tells me i can do that then my body tells me you wish. Good for about 2-3 hours at a slow pace and the heat is a killer.
I have another 1 1/2 years till 70 but I still wrench our 3 vehicles. Granted mostly oil changes, brakes and tire rotations.
Looks like by 80 BITOG members stop wrenching. Limiting themselves to reading about wrenching.

I leave most of my brute force to extension steel pipes. Those help lot.
73 next month and just changed the oil and filter, Vr1 20w50, the primary got Harley plus3, and transmission Redline Shockproof in my Harley Superglide. 95 degrees so I washed it in the A/C and squeegeed the garage after. Slow and easy gets the ship to port.
I will be 70 in August and still do a lot of various mechanical repairs and maintenance. I actually have to do more fix it repairs on my boat than on my vehicles and do most of those things myself. I am going to help my son replace the oil filter housing which is cracked on his Jeep. Fluid changes are all done at home. If I had to pay to have all my work done it would cost a small fortune and that's money I don't like to spend unless I have to.
77 here and too busy for most auto maintenance.
Today my wife and I sifted 5 wheel barrow loads of compost. Put the clear coat on paint repairs I did yesterday on the Tesla.
Social club event tomorrow morning. Mowing the lawn tomorrow afternoon. Polishing and waxing half the Tesla tomorrow after the lawn mowing.
Wednesday - More compost sifting. Have to polish the paint repairs I did yesterday (after a 48 hour wait) before I can polish and wax the other half of the Tesla,.
Volunteering at the aviation museum on Thursday.
Maybe going to level the heat pump on Friday. Lots of digging there. Might replace the front eves troughs that day too.
Next week I'm putting a new concrete paver floor in the shed.
That will leave some sand left over which I can use to level the concrete pavers in the patio that have slumped.
Need to do some 4 year maintenance on the Tesla. When would I have time?
