Our First visit to Buc-ees

Just checked to be sure. Buc-ee's is not on the Top Tier list. That checks them off my list of places to fill up.

Think you won top weird message - regardless, the guy who’s nickname adorns these stores will die a billionaire …
You are probably right. But what is your point? That he has invented a better mousetrap? I'll concede to that.

I buy Exxon or Shell … I don’t get meals there … Nor trinkets …
I might stop for the rest room - get drinks and a snack like jerky … Washer fluid - or even a gas can to grab some E0 for OPE …

I certainly do find them fascinating especially since I used to stop at his first tiny store (where my in laws live) … and now stop at the world’s largest …

We have a lot of this problem in modern society. People will overhype themselves to the point that when they experience it, it seems lame to them. It doesn't matter how great it may be, it'll never live up to the hype to them because they set their expectations at an unrealistically high level. It's why I tend to not get hyped up about many things. If you go into it expecting nothing, you're rarely disappointed.

Well, it’s a convenience store being compared to all kinds of things …
Being 7-11 is the largest in that space - not seeing that comparison …

Interesting how America has evolved. A gas station turned into a destination spot. Destination spots have always been around, they just changed the look. People from Michigan will recognize these.

There not remotely close to 7-11. At least not the ones here - maybe its different in TX?

Here there all along the interstate. They put up signs 100 miles away - much like South of the Border, so people travelling can plan their stops. There a "destination" on a destination trip - ie I am going from NJ to FL and I am going to plan my stops every few hundred miles around Buc-ees. People can use the restroom and buy mediocre food and hear the staff singing, like its some sort of Alice in Wonderland.

7-11 is pretty much urban. The place to go to get junk food and over-cooked hot dogs in a concrete jungle, with the emphasis on convenience, not experience.

I find the whole gas station changing market to be sort of fascinating. Buc-ees especially falls into the whole nose constantly in phone - need to be entertained at every instant.

Speedy3861 beat me to it.

I like driving and I've read these Buc-Kee's posts. I don't care if I have the name right. It's kind of an 'over-genericized' sounding name.
I read many gas pumps and charging stations = COOL (yup)
I read clean rest rooms = VERY COOL (yup, as clean as any upscale hotel)
I rejoice at the publicized competitive pay rates...if they're true and honest, as in 'absent prolonged probation periods', etc. (of course they are honest)
I see tee-shirts and plush toys = MICSYDN (Made In China Stuff You Don't Need) = garbage for undiscriminating people.

I read long lines inside = May I buy gas and just pay and go? Does this vary by hour?
This is not correct - It's kind of like commenting on a car you dont own or never drove.
I read mediocre brisket sandwiches = At least they have that...See, I'm a sport
This is not correct either

Other food offerings are a complete NO GO right out of the box. Can you say, "preservatives and artificial color?
I wouldnt know about this anymore than any other restaurant but you might be able to find out on the website.
How the charging stations are managed might be THE pivotal point.
HUH? Do you wonder this every time you pull up to a couple dozen super chargers?

I can not fathom the excitement.
Back to, if you never tried it, you never know ;) kind of like hating Tesla's but never drove or owned one.

Not correct, the brisket is fantastic. In addition lots of healthy offerings such as fruit, nuts etc

Then there are those of us who have been in several Buc-ees, own a Tesla, and BMW's, and still aren't excited about another gas station.

But everyone has their thing. If that thing is gas stations, then Buc-ees is definitely a gas station...

I'm not thrilled with the place. I've only gassed there with rental cars on business trips. It is good for a quick eat. Like I usually say about anyplace people disparage; If you don't like it, don't go there. If you do like it, YAY for you. It's not important in the scheme of life.
Worried about eating chemicals, sugar, and salt? Don't buy food at a gas station convenience store. Go to the health food store. A lot of complaining and quibbling over nothing.

I have been there twice one time spent seventy something dollars inside the next time was fifty something.
I don't need to stop there.I'll just drive by next time and go elsewhere

Dude with Buc-ees shirt on flight!
I see Buc-ee's stuff everywhere despite the nearest location being 350 miles away. Kids especially seem to like the rodent logo.

Sometimes I wonder what "the next big thing" will be. Right now, it's Buc-ee's. Lightning in a bottle.
