Buc-ee's has announced a new location here in Utah, South of Provo. It will probably be at least three years before completion.
They originated from Lake Jackson, Texas - we used to stop there to fill our boats on the way to the bay …Clearly there trying to capture leisure interstate travel - seems to fit their store and model.
Are they a more traditional gas station in Texas, or is that their overall model there also?
The best they have is PP - and they sell it for a good price. They sell washer fluid through gas cans for a good price. But pardon me for pointing out positive thingsWhat kind of oil did they have?
But pardon me for pointing out positive things …
Really? Wow - I can tell you the new and (this months LoL) largest is Ok - but in Luling Texas - I’d recommend going to a couple BBQ places in town …They also do brisket better than 90% of Virginia BBQ joints.
The ones I have been to here don't have the infrastructure off the interstate. None are cloverleafed exits. Most require an additional turn onto a service road then in to the station - so a bunch of left turns. Doesn't matter if your 5 minutes at the station, its 20 minutes to get on and off the road. They originated from Lake Jackson, Texas - we used to stop there to fill our boats on the way to the bay …
But as a model - there are fewer and fewer small stores - most are the flagship stores on the freeways …
One is 12 miles from me - but our original small store was sold to 7-11 …
Crowd or not - I get in/out fast enough - but tend to get coffee/drinks - not food …
This is something I predicted here years ago … they not only put chargers at new stores - but added them to older places like we have …In addition massive amount of gas pumps, which I tried to count one time and lost track.
Im surprised no one mentioned the massive amount of SuperChargers on typically one side of the parking lot and to a lessor degree the large amount of Mercedes "super" chargers on the other side.
As another posted. Being in business for most my whole life life which a lot of success came from the food business, still there for generations now. I am AMAZED at the business model and to a degree the employee wages.
I have been to 7 - none 20 minutes - exit to feeder or on a small town highway …The ones I have been to here don't have the infrastructure off the interstate. None are cloverleafed exits. Unlike QT which tends to put them right up near the ramp so at most its one left turn, and then out.
I suppose Buc-ees is counting on the county paying for the infrastructure upgrade eventually. I guess if they were dumb enough to approve the construction without requiring the builder to pay for the infrastructure build out, then we the taxpayer on on the hook (again)
Gota love that name, I can remember the first time driving into Pennsylvania and seeing that brand, "Man that gas is the Sheetz!"Need to hit one some day….
Granted, I have not hit our new Sheetz yet either…..
Brisket is not a Southern BBQ thing. Pork and Chicken is. Still, there are lots of good brisket places, but not every bbq joint like you expect in TX or KS.Really? Took me 30 minutes to get out in St. Augustine when I stopped. If I ran out of gas in front of that exit I would push my truck to the next one.I have been to 7 - none 20 minutes - exit to feeder or on a small town highway …
For @rijndael there used to be a place off the highway in Petersburg called Saucy's that had OK brisket, not sure if its still there. Ask for it lean. Definitely better than Buc-ees. Not as good as Texas / Kansas
I literally think there are dozens and dozens in Texas - we had a competition cooker start a place in our little village - and he blows away a joint that’s cooked brisket for several decades …It's still there.
I'm a central TX brisket fan, so I just do my own most of the time.
They're coming soon (2027?) to Wisconsin, in Oak Creek and Deforest, tapping right into the Illinois vacation traveler market.Clearly there trying to capture leisure interstate travel ...
Yes, well.It's still there.
