I bought a new battery for my 06 Mustang GT yesterday. I have had good luck with O'Reilly batteries but I thought they were by Exide. The two they had to fit my Mustang were both Johnson Controls. The price on the two was the same, $99 exchange, but $112 with tax and a fee. Surprisingly, some places don't have a battery to fit a Mustang GT. Neither WalMart nor Cosco did. I was pleased it was a Johnson because the consensus here seems to be that they are the best.

Interesting. The O'Reilly Batteries here are East Penn / Deka units (which are good too!).
They are great batteries. I have a "gold" series in my Grand Marquis now.
I've had terrible luck with them in my 98 K3500. I've gone through four of them in almost five years. They don't go completely dead but the truck will not start as easy as before and that is the sign to check them.
I don't think the O'reilly batteries around here are Johnson Controls. I think they are the East Penn/ Deka ones.
I went with a Duralast Gold this time to see if it lasts.
I've checked the electrical system out on this truck as well as installing a new positive side battery cable and new ground straps as well as cleaning all of the other grounds so I don't think it's an issue with the truck.

What did your checking consist of?
I did a voltage drop test on eight different areas on both the positive and negative side of the system. They were all under .5Volts with the highest being .11volts
The biggest culprit is probably the amount of time this truck sits. I have only been averaging about 2,000 miles a year on it.
The guy who I talked to about this issue and who helped me do these tests said that since my batteries are being subject to a low charge for lengthy periods of time because of the non use of the truck and it never has a chace to fully charge itself, it is killing the battery before it's time. He said most of today's battery's cannot hold up to that kind of use.
I have an O'reillys battery in my 92 Cavalier that is my daily driver, I have not had any battery issues with it so there is probably some truth to what he says.
I just had a Bosch battery go bad in less than 3 years in my 2004 Monte Carlo SS that sits most of the time. I bought it in Dec 09 and have only put 11,000 miles on it in that time. The Bosch battery had just been installed new right before I bought the car.
I have been driving the truck more often and will drive the Monte more often to try and alleviate this problem.
