Hey everyone,

I haven't had the best of luck with in store pickup at the local auto part stores. None of them seem to have the order ready and look confused when I go there. It's not like I order online and hurry to the store to grab my order either. The parts won't be pulled and I end up waiting for them to try and figure things out haha. It's not the end of the world, but has anyone had good luck with the pickup?

Maybe it's just me??

I always have good luck with online ordering to pick up. Even if they haven't pulled the part yet, it generally only takes a few minutes. I've never ordered a part the website claimed was in stock but really wasn't.

I order online because at Advance, Sears and Napa that's how I get the best prices.

Napa frequently has 10% off if you order online. Advance has ridiculous discount codes that makes them the cheapest local place by far.

Same here. A few calls to customer service will wake a store up. I had to.

I agree with the pricing online. You can really save a few bucks ordering online and picking the parts up in store. I've had bad luck with the website saying the parts were in stock at the store, but the counter person couldn't find them.

I just got tired of sitting in the store and waiting for someone to help me at the counter for parts. Most just b.s with others and don't seem to care about their jobs much.

I have not done this .
Apparently, you can save substantial money.
I'll start to do it before they wise up and change things!

Remember that auto parts store employees can look at you in a blank way anyways, and obtain wrong info and parts [even without online activity].

You're missing out mechtech2 haha. I usually shop at carquest/napa, but they don't have the late night hours like the other chain stores if I'm in a jam. The carquest/napa stores have very knowledgeable people also which spoils me.

I almost always order online and pickup in store. Saves alot of time wandering around the store looking for stuff. I do this for auto parts as well as at home big box stores.

Hardly ever have any problems. I do check everything over though prior to doing anything - I'm always worried they'll try to offload a dented/damaged product on me if I didn't inspect it first.

Fine luck with our local Subaru dealer with national mail order site. Parts are discounted and ready at when promised. They send an email when ready for pickup.

AA messed up my order for spark plugs for the Honda - wrong part number. I questioned the strange number when picking them up, but they assured me it was right. Looked up the part number when I got home and found it was for a Ford engine. Next day they exchanged them, but 2 trips to get 4 plugs was a waste of time and gas. Made me wonder if they were out of stock that day and needed a stall tatic??

It's not just you.

In the past 6 months I've made 4 trips for 1 order and 3 trips for another order at AAP, all due to their own incompetence and lack of organization.

I've done the order online/pickup a couple of times with both Autozone and O'Reilly's.

1 for 2 at Autozone. The first time went without incident. The second time I never got a notification that my part was ready. I had to call the 800 help number the next day. A few hours and I got the notification. When I went to pick it up, the counter boob couldn't find the part. When he finally located it, he didn't follow procedures; I was so frustrated with standing around for 30 minutes that I walked out without giving CC/ID verification or a receipt.

O'Reilly's is 2 for 2. No issues what so ever.

So far, I give the edge to O'Reilly's.
