Options for homepage/email

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative to Yahoo as my main homepage to follow news,my forums and serve as my primary email address? I'm looking for something with perhaps less spam, ads and obvious worldview/political slant.

I use hotmail for my very small business. I like MSN for news since it has can and amer news. Good spam filters and good settings. Id reccomend it for sure.
